Nail Today, Gone Tomorrow
I made the decision this weekend to pop off my acryllic nails once and for all. I've had them for 5 or 6 years now (I'm getting old. I can't remember when I put them on for the first time). My real nails have always been really weak and brittle, so I liked having strong nails, even if they were fake. I put a lot of abuse on them during the cello playing years, that's for sure. But, I keep seeing people with really pretty natural nails and I'm like, "I can do that. I can take care of my own nails."  And, fake nails are expensive and a pain to maintain (but I love my nail ladies. They make me eggrolls!). So, yeah, the decision has been made. I'm going natural for awhile. And, it's literally been hell all weekend. I can't do anything without my nails, haha. I couldn't open a soup can or soda can. I couldn't tie a knot in anything. I'm having issues over here. After church, I went by the beauty supply store and bought a bunch of nail strengthing stuff. Hopefully that'll help. Plus, I have a support system, since my mom decided to take hers off too. She's had hers on since before I was born, so she's in worse shape than I am right now.

Man, this post is boring. Sorry.

Ummm, what shall I talk about now? The weekend? Ok.

I didn't do much.

On Friday, the roomie txt me to tell me that the regular Ben's Bells employee called in sick and they needed someone to run the studio. I was literally almost out the door for class, so I had to turn around and grab a Ben's Bells shirt and my nametag. Jeannette (who runs Ben's Bells) was so happy to see me, because she was afraid she wasn't going to get any she needed to get done finished. And then my best friend, Sarah (who was the studio manager before she moved to Portland last week), txt me and said I saved Ben's Bells. Hee, dramatic. I got to work a few hours, so that was nice. I met a guy who started coming in to the studio because he found a bell in the park last weekend. Sounds like he's going to start volunteering on a regular basis, so that makes me happy. I painted a ton of centerpieces for the Celebrate Kindness Day bells, since CKD is coming up on the 26th. Then, I walked around with blue paint all over me the rest of the night. I also wore my poor back out washing off paint palates and bowls in the sink, because it must've been built for a 3 year old. Oy, but that was fun, so I'm glad I went by.

Got the ficathon site up and running yesterday. Lots of cursing and throwing things when I couldn't get stuff to work, but look how pretty. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I can't wait to get my assignment!

Last night, I went to my friend Gabby's mom's surprise birthday party. It feels like I haven't seen Gabby in ages (when, really, it's probably only been a few weeks), so we got to catch up a bit and talk about Lost (it's only been 2 weeks and I already miss it terribly). Had some great Russian cake (woot!) and waaaaay too much food. Good times.

I am incapable of talking in complete sentences today. Ugh.

I'm starting to catch up with Battlestar Galatica. You know, the one good thing about the writer's strike was that it gave me the opportunity to catch up with a bunch of shows that were on my "must watch" list. But, yeah, I don't want to go through writer's strike hell again. NBC Thursday night comedy block comes back this week! I'm a happy camper.

Yeah, I didn't do a good job of making this post any more interesting. I blame the fact that I'm watching the last Star Wars prequel on TV. I hadn't seen it since it came out so I thought I would give it a whirl again. Hayden Christiansen has about as much charisma as a piece of toast.

Oh man. I've had acrylic nails once in my lifetime, and NEVER AGAIN. Well, I mean there will probably be a time where I'll have to get them, but never by choice again. I hate it. They lasted me about a week, and I just couldnt stand them. I ripped them all off. They made my hands look pretty, but. Eh..

I loved my nails, but it was time for them to go. I explained it to them very gently and they seemed to be understanding. But ugly child hands look like crap now.

So I did a Google search for "Oh Carol" "Lenny and the Pilgrims" and this entry came up. Heh. I need to find the episode they were on Bandstand so I can rip that song. It'll be interspersed with some dialogue, but so is "Sweet Nothings."
