The New Look is Here!
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for (I think)...My new hair color!

Here's me a couple weeks ago with some friends (I'm on the far right in the green):

And here's me now:

I don't realIy like any of these pictures of me. I mean, they're ok, but not great. But, anywho, nobody really cares about that because look how awesome the color is! I love it! And the best part? It only cost me $18 at the salon when it normally would've cost me $80.

When I showed up for my appointment, I handed over picture of Lauren Graham and we started matching up swatches. Then, my hairdresser went away to talk to her supervisor about something. When she came back, she asked if I would be willing to come back later that night so that she could use my hair for an example for her technique class and told me it would only cost $18. SOLD!

I loved the way it turned out, but what do you guys think? Pretty? Horrible?

I realized I haven't posted here in awhile, probably because sporking has been taking up a lot of my time this week. So much fun snarking with you guys!

So, I guess I should update a bit. I graduate in 2 weeks! Still don't know what I'm doing when I'm done because I'm still waiting to hear back from schools, so it's nervewrcking to not have a plan. Audiology is such a hard program to get into because there aren't that many schools that offer the doctorate program, and all these schools only accept about 10 people each. Needless to say, it's been tough to get in anywhere. I just found out about a school in Mesa that wasn't on the ASHA (American Speech-Language and Hearing Association) website of grad schools that offer the AuD program. I emailed them to see if their audiology slots were all full and they said they would send me an application. I'm crossing my fingers for that to work out because, honestly, that would be perfect. We already have a house in Mesa (my aunt's house from college that we never got around to selling), so I wouldn't have to find a place to live (only, I have a friend living there right now, so I'd feel bad kicking her out). I'd be closer to Yuma so I still pop on over to see the family when I want. Plus, I know the Phoenix area pretty well, so it wouldn't be a huge adjustment to move there. I'm also on the alternate list for Northern Colorado University. There's an online AuD. program in Pennsylvania that I'm working on the application for right now. The only problem is that the professors who wrote letters for me earlier this year aren't responding to my emails so I can get another copy of the letter. I also have to get  letter from an audiologist, but I haven't gotten a return email from them either. Ugh, so frustrating. I have until May 15th, but I don't want to push it here.

I'm having a Lost party with Gabby, Juan, and Kenyon tomorrow! I made cookies for the occasion, but then remembered that Gabby couldn't have any because of Passover. Crap. But, she did text me a little bit ago saying that she suddenly remembered that she could eat popcorn, so it all worked out.

My parents told me that they were thinking about giving me a trip for graduation. I think I finally decided on going up to Portland for a week. My best friend, Sarah, and her husband just moved there this month and I miss her terribly. She has never been farther than a hop, skip, and a jump away before, so it's been a big adjustment for both of us. She text me the other day to ask me if I realized that we have been friends for 14 years. Holy cow! I had no idea it had been that long. When I told her that I was thinking about coming up to Portland, she was so excited. Plus, another one of my best friends from childhood, Allie, lives up their too. I don't think the three of us have spent time together in four years. I can't wait now.

This is the only picture I could find of the three of us on my computer. I thought I had some from when we were in 4th grade, but they must be somewhere else. Oh well. Holy moly, I was skinny. Filo, that's my weight goal, ok?

I think that's it for now. Hope you guys like the new hair. I'm certainly digging it.

Awesome! I've done that before with both cut and colour and never had a problem. Such a great deal. And it looks fabulous - I really like it. You won't straighten it all the time right? It seems like it would be a pain.

probably because sporking has been taking up a lot of my time this week

What does this mean??

Sporking: A really trashy way Robin likes to tell people she's been getting some.

KIDDING!

It's a word to define us making fun of some really bad GG fanfic.

The first definition was more interesting to you, wasn't it?

Snort! Yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to say. You read my mind so well.

Yeah, I definitely won't be straightening it often because it takes forever! I have to flat iron it in so many layers and there are still some waves that won't come out completely. I used to straighten my hair everyday, but I gave up on that pretty fast. Curly is the way to go for my hair.

Love the new hair! It suits you!

Holy moly, I was skinny. Filo, that's my weight goal, ok? I look at pictures of me from when I was 22-23 and I feel the same way!

Thanks! It's a bit of a shock, but I'm totally digging it. I've gotten lots of compliments on it already, so that's always a bonus.

It looks great!
I really like the darker hair with your eyes and complexion. Very striking!

I know that graduation is an exciting and nerve wracking time, but you'll sail right through!

I'm excited for you to see your firends, though. I know how hard it is to be so far from them. Of course, that makes the time that you do get to spend together that much better. My girfriends and I have a blast each time I get to go home for a while. I usually come back to AR with my tummy hurting from laughing too hard. Oh, and eating too much, but that's just a given...

Re: It looks great!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

I think graduation would be less stressful if I knew where I was going next. I have to be out of my house by the end of June and I have no idea where I'm going to put all my stuff. I mean, I'll stay with my parents for the time being, but I don't know where the rest of my stuff is going to fit. Sigh, oh well. I'll just try not to think about it until I absolutely have to.

I miss my friends. I mean, I still have the roomie and a couple other really close friends near me, but I miss those two girls like crazy because they've been in my life for so long. But, I'm excited about seeing them soon.

Somebody looks goooooooooooooooooooood. And it's you! Lovin' the new 'do.

Man, I remember being all stressed out about graduation. I was lucky enough to already have a job lined up, but it was still a pretty freaky time for me. I'm sure all will work out in the end for you - how could it not now that you have LG's hair?

How is your working out going? The husband had to drag me out to the gym yesterday and I had to carry JJ in his carrier as I walked the treadmill and then rode the elliptical. It was ROUGH. And my body hates me today. My body and I aren't talking at the moment.
robinpoppins: Friends: rock paper scissors FIRErobinpoppins on April 24th, 2008 09:27 pm (UTC)
Why thank you *flips hair*

The thing is, I would get a job if I could. That would be nice. But, I can't work in my field without a doctorate and I'm overqualified for minimum wage jobs now so they won't hire me. Sigh.

Body by lulu is going good. I meant to add that to the entry, but I forgot. I only had to miss one day so far, and I may not be able to exercise until late tonight, but it's going well. I'm no longer sore and the elliptical is treating me better. Ooo, I bet carrying the baby while on the treadmil was tough. Are you doing the whole Chandler not being able to pick up his coffee cup thing? That how I always feel when I'm sore.
Filofilo77 on April 24th, 2008 10:38 pm (UTC)
I so should be doing the Chandler not being able to pick up the coffee mug thing! I think tomorrow will be the day that I'm totally pathetic. The third day is usually the worst, isn't it? Maybe it won't be for me since I'm not working out today.

I'm loving it.
Robin I am loving the color. I'm a big fan of the brunette. And not because I am one. It really suits you. A new look for a new phase of your life.
I like the sweepy bangs across the side. My daughter has a similar cut. She dyed her hair a rich brown (she's already brunette) but she wanted it to be richer with some highlights. It came out really nice.
I actually told her the other day as she was dolling herself up to go out. "You like really pretty today, not that you don't look pretty everyday, but today you look very mature." Like she went from teenager pretty to young woman pretty.
I marvel at you 'youngsters' so fresh of face and taking the bull by the horns (go ahead make a dirty out of that.)
Always remember to enjoy your friends. You commented on your best friend and knowing her for 14 years.
My husband and I have the same best friends (a husband wife duo) going on like 30 years now.
